Beginners Division

Description: The Beginners Division is an introduction to the game of softball and offers our youngest players the opportunity to learn the game and a fun, non-competitive environment.  Players learn the basics of the game including batting, throwing, catching, base running, and rules of the game.

Rules Summary: The game is played with an 11 inch "softie" style softball on a 50 foot diamond.  Scores and standings are not kept in this division.  Games are 3 innings long and each player bats every inning.    Batters will start off batting off of a tee, but will progress to coach-pitch during the season.  Each player can progress at her own pace.  There are no strikeouts or walks.  During coach pitch, each player will receive 3-6 pitches to put the ball in play.  If she does not put the ball in play she will bat off of the tee.  All players will play in the field every inning.  There are no catchers, and every player plays in the infield.  Players are rotated each inning and every player will have the opportunity to play every position several times throughout the season.

Time: Games are approximately 1 hour long and usually take place on Saturday Mornings from 8:30 to 10:30.  Practices take place on weeknights once a week for 1 hour between 5:30 and 7:30 on a day and time chosen by the coach .
